www.ceotodaymagazine.com 24 CEO Today Middle East Awards 2018 ISRAEL JOSEPH WEISS CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries ABOUT JOSEPH WEISS Joseph Weiss was appointed President and CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in 2012. Weiss joined IAI in 1998, following 27 years of service in the Israeli Navy. During his naval career, Weiss filled a broad range of positions, including project officer in the USA for an advanced weapon system program for the Israel Navy, and manager of several major advanced missile and defense system programs for the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Weiss’ last army assignment was as head of the $1 billion Dolphin class submarine development and manufacturing program. Following his retirement from the Israeli Navy, Weiss joined IAI’s MBT Division as the Naval Systems and Air Defense Director. His main responsibilities included development of the Barak ship-defense missile system, advanced attack missiles and various naval combat suite programs. In 2003, Weiss was promoted to General Manager of MBT Space Division, with responsibility for all IAI’s space related activities, including OFEQ and EROS optical observation satellites, TECSAR Radar imaging observation satellites, and AMOS communications satellites. In April 2006, Weiss was appointed Corporate Vice President & General Manager of the Systems, Missiles & Space Group, IAI’s largest group. While serving in this position, Weiss led the group to increased sales volume and improved product quality, earning the group a range of awards. Weiss served as Corporate Vice President & General Manager of the Systems, Missiles & Space Group until his appointment as IAI President and CEO in 2012. Weiss holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (1973) from the Technion, which he graduated with honors, and an MBA (1990) from Tel Aviv University.
