15 www.ceotodaymagazine.com CEO Today Middle East Awards 2018 CYPRUS ANDREAS KRITIOTIS CEO of Universal Life Insurance plc ABOUT ANDREAS KRITIOTIS Andreas Kritiotis is Chief Executive Officer at Universal Life Insurance plc and Chairman of the Insurance Association of Cyprus. He began his career in Germany with Bayer AG in 1986, where he quickly assumed management responsibilities in the Research & Development division. He returned to Cyprus in 1992 and worked in the Consultancy Division of the Cyprus Development Bank, focusing on strategic studies and project appraisals. In 1996 he moved to the Bank of Cyprus Group as General Manager of EuroLife, the Group’s life insurance subsidiary. He left in 2007 to set up his own consultancy firm offering advisory services in strategy, organization and management to private companies in the financial, trade, manufacturing and health sectors. He was appointed CEO and Managing Director of Universal Life in 2012. He serves on the Boards of Directors of Alpha Bank (Cyprus) and the Employers’ and Industrialists’ Federation (OEB) and on the Board of Governors of the Cyprus International Institute of Management. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Imperial College and Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). FIRM PROFILE Incorporated as a private company by prominent Cypriot businessmen in 1970, Universal Life was the first insurance company to be founded in Cyprus after the enactment of the local insurance legislation. Universal Life was instrumental in the development of the life insurance industry in Cyprus through the introduction of new insurance concepts and the advancement of insurance values amongst Cypriots.
